Introduction

The WST Festival aims to innovate medical congresses by featuring live surgery demonstrations on human pre-fractured specimens, academic debate clubs, and keynote lectures.  The different formats were delivered from two different locations. The festival is the crowning final of the annual world surgery tour produced by our partner, the Rimasys group, and thus requires an outstanding show design.

Our Approach

At re:mood, we supported the Rimasys group with a full-service approach. During pre-production, we developed a show concept and provided our deep understanding in medical film production and show design. In the end, we developed a holistic concept that included lighting design, a detailed rundown for 3 show days with over 30 hours of live program, and a cutting-edge technical concept. We also provided all the necessary technical equipment and personnel, about 30 people in total. During the show days, our teams, led by our creative and technical directors, delivered outstanding audio-visual quality. We also provided all the necessary show material, event videos, as well as behind-the-scenes photography.

Camera and Video Technology

For the project, we used 24 cameras, mainly remote cameras, to cut costs and achieve the level of detail necessary to show the live surgeries precisely. We also established a high-end video connection between the studio and the festival venue using an ultra-low latency SRT streaming protocol. This cutting-edge technology enabled us to build a high-end video connection between remote locations at a relatively low price point.
